Blog chronicling the beginning of my new career as a home business owner, totally of my own creation. My business has been operational for a little over four years now and will eventually replace my current Just Over Broke (J.O.B) at the earliest opportunity. My husband and I have been working towards replacing our "replaceable" jobs with something we are truly happy to wake up to every day and pursue.

Farmers Market 08 August 2012
Tomorrow Afternoon the Delaware, Ohio city Farmers Market kicks off again at 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm in our historic Business District. Working for the day when we all can have our own small businesses to support our families versus working for someone else in this uncertain world. Patty Jacobus and I will be there tomorrow afternoon with our table set up in front of Barley Hopsters providing a selection of Hand Made goods you need in your everyday lives.

July 11th Farmers Market
Tomorrow afternoon from 3:30 - 6:30 pm. the Delaware, Ohio downtown Farmers Market sponsored by Main Street Delaware will hold their mid week market on the west side of Sandusky street between William and Central avenues.
Saturday was a killer day (in more ways than one) vendors were packed two deep on the sidewalk offering any kind of hand made, home grown, or non-profit service you could ever use. My friend and co-marketer Patty Jacobus will be there with me during the market. This year has been phenomenal to date as there were days when we thought no one would come (like last Saturday when it was 103) the side walks were jammed with shoppers who were looking for that special gift or food product that they love and can only get at the market.
I'm finishing another of my (hand made) rosaries for a customer who is looking for a 48" long one which are not easy to find in any store. I'm still blessed to not have to spend money on traditional advertising but rely on referrals to keep me humming 7 days a week with business.
Tomorrow Patty and I will be working on new items for each of our customer markets as they have been phenomenally loyal to both our businesses. Last Saturday I sold more of my hand made Hot pads, cast iron pot handle protector grips, and hair pins than at any other time in the 5-1/2 years I've been in business.
Main Street Delaware Director Frances Jo Hamilton has outdone herself this year putting together a great selection of vendors to provide products for our shopping client base.
See you in Downtown Delaware, Ohio tomorrow afternoon between 3:30 - 6:30 pm. Stop by on your way home from work and make it a one stop shopping trip.

Catch Up
13 months ago was way too long a drought for the posts.
During this last year I've had many First Friday's (part of our Main Street Delaware, Ohio Program), Farmer's Markets, Delaware County Community Market, and two retail outlet consignment venues to market my work.
Our Delaware Artist Showcase held their last 2012 show with the June 1st First Friday themed "Artful Spaces." It ws held in the basement of the Knights of Pythias lodge at 9 West Winter street. Turnout was good, but not as well as last year.
Next year we hope to be able to be inside a street level location where we can be more visible to the public.
One of our members Cindy Smith is now working at the Arts Castle, where I hope to be teaching (at least one) an art class in the fall.
This year has been especially tough on many arts communities across the country, and I hope to be able to continue to be an influence on others to "get out there and make something."
Most importantly to remember, in these tough economic times we artists need to be able to meet the "Needs" of our customers versus creating things that appeal to our own senses.
Lastly, during these past six months like many of you extended family events are now making an imprint on our time, and must be worked into our schedules. Currently my husband and I are helping with the Dialysis efforts of his Father twice daily.
Situations like this impess upon us more than ever the need for us to do a better job of taking care of ourselves as well.
Talk to you soon.
