Farmers Market 08 August 2012

Tomorrow Afternoon the Delaware, Ohio city Farmers Market kicks off again at 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm in our historic Business District. Working for the day when we all can have our own small businesses to support our families versus working for someone else in this uncertain world. Patty Jacobus and I will be there tomorrow afternoon with our table set up in front of Barley Hopsters providing a selection of Hand Made goods you need in your everyday lives.

July 11th Farmers Market

Tomorrow afternoon from 3:30 - 6:30 pm. the Delaware, Ohio downtown Farmers Market sponsored by Main Street Delaware will hold their mid week market on the west side of Sandusky street between William and Central avenues. Saturday was a killer day (in more ways than one) vendors were packed two deep on the sidewalk offering any kind of hand made, home grown, or non-profit service you could ever use. My friend and co-marketer Patty Jacobus will be there with me during the market. This year has been phenomenal to date as there were days when we thought no one would come (like last Saturday when it was 103) the side walks were jammed with shoppers who were looking for that special gift or food product that they love and can only get at the market. I'm finishing another of my (hand made) rosaries for a customer who is looking for a 48" long one which are not easy to find in any store. I'm still blessed to not have to spend money on traditional advertising but rely on referrals to keep me humming 7 days a week with business. Tomorrow Patty and I will be working on new items for each of our customer markets as they have been phenomenally loyal to both our businesses. Last Saturday I sold more of my hand made Hot pads, cast iron pot handle protector grips, and hair pins than at any other time in the 5-1/2 years I've been in business. Main Street Delaware Director Frances Jo Hamilton has outdone herself this year putting together a great selection of vendors to provide products for our shopping client base. See you in Downtown Delaware, Ohio tomorrow afternoon between 3:30 - 6:30 pm. Stop by on your way home from work and make it a one stop shopping trip. Memorabeadia

Catch Up

13 months ago was way too long a drought for the posts. During this last year I've had many First Friday's (part of our Main Street Delaware, Ohio Program), Farmer's Markets, Delaware County Community Market, and two retail outlet consignment venues to market my work. Our Delaware Artist Showcase held their last 2012 show with the June 1st First Friday themed "Artful Spaces." It ws held in the basement of the Knights of Pythias lodge at 9 West Winter street. Turnout was good, but not as well as last year. Next year we hope to be able to be inside a street level location where we can be more visible to the public. One of our members Cindy Smith is now working at the Arts Castle, where I hope to be teaching (at least one) an art class in the fall. This year has been especially tough on many arts communities across the country, and I hope to be able to continue to be an influence on others to "get out there and make something." Most importantly to remember, in these tough economic times we artists need to be able to meet the "Needs" of our customers versus creating things that appeal to our own senses. Lastly, during these past six months like many of you extended family events are now making an imprint on our time, and must be worked into our schedules. Currently my husband and I are helping with the Dialysis efforts of his Father twice daily. Situations like this impess upon us more than ever the need for us to do a better job of taking care of ourselves as well. Talk to you soon. Memorabeadia

Working Dinner

Tonight I had my friend and co artist Lynn St. C over for dinner and a brain storming session. My friend Cindy (another artist and friend) couldn't make it because of a paid project she was finishing up. her computer was giving her fits, but she said that she was making progress. After discussing our options for the June 3rd First Friday sponsored by our own Main Street Delaware, we decided that as of this time we just couldn't afford the sponsorship fee. I'm going to write to Main Street Delaware Director Frances Hamilton tomorrow to let her know of our group's decision and that maybe we can work together next year. We're just starting out and right now in this economy $100.00 is a little steep for sponsorship in this community. Since we already have a site we can go ahead for this year with our art show and sale on our own, and hopefully bring more business to the West Winter Street businesses as well. We mapped out our floor plan and Cindy is finishing up our corrected flyers for distribution in our downtown business district. Work is progressing nicely on our displays and now I just need to keep busy working on stock for our show. My Father is working diligently helping me with ideas as well and I really like this, since we have not had that many opportunities to collaborate in recent years. 37 days to go.

June 3rd, 2011 Artisans Gallery Showing

We want all of you to know that a four of Delaware Ohio's newest artisans and I will be hosting a showing and sale of our artistic creations at the Knights of Pythias Lenare Lodge #26 located on West Winter Street beneath the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. The Lodge entrance on West Winter Street is east of the paint store window. A second entrance is available with a chair lift available descending into the Lodge from the City of Delaware parking lot on Franklin Street behind the Bee Hive Bookstore.

We are looking forward to this event, as all of us are working towards replacing our daytime "Just Over Broke" daytime gigs with something that we absolutely Love.

Descriptions of the items on display and for sale will be posted as soon as we decide on the final draft.

Like most of the downtown businesses we too are open for this First Friday event in support of our downtown Business district. We wish to show and share with the public some of the talents of Delaware's newest Artists. This event will run from 6:00 pm till 9:00pm or until the last tourists have left.

More to come on Monday, 21 March, 2011.

Our event is being held simultaneously but separately from the Main Street First Friday June 3rd "Artful Spaces" self guided tours of 2nd and third floors of our downtown buildings.

2011 Goals

This coming year I've realized that I've got to take a step back for awhile and work on building my inventory for the upcoming show season. I'm getting better results than I'd previously hoped for and now have surpassed last years goals for the second time. All without the use of paid advertising. Time for bed now.

St. Mary's Catholic Church Annual Craft Bazaar, Delaware, Ohio

This Saturday is the 2010 installment of St. Mary's Catholic Church Christmas craft bazaar. Two plusses for this year are that the weather will be crisp, and the Buckeyes are on a bye week, leaving more time for shopping. This year's slate of vendors will once again be the proverbial feast for the shopper. Many vendors representing more than 40 artistic, and creative disciplines represent all you'll ever need to fill your 2010 Christmas shopping lists with homemade timeless gifts.
The bazaar begins at 9:00 an to 5 pm, and is always easy to get to with plenty of parking on site at the Church as well as street parking on 3 of 4 sides of the property.

Finish your 2010 Christmas shopping in one morning (leaving the rest of your weekends free for Buckeye football) versus waiting till that last two to three days before the holiday rush to madness.

See you there, I'll be helping my wife with her Memorabeadia Sales, stop by and say hello and see the creations of Mary Sue Metzger that are sure to fill the needs of every member of your family.
